It was a rebellious adolescence, the civil rights movement, second wave feminism, countless missteps with drugs and alcohol, and her sense of adventure that has made her the woman she is today. 06/01/2021 Duración: 01h46min

We're taking the next several weeks to look at each Beatle as an individual, and we're starting with someone who raises different controversy than the other three. Ringo Starr has to be one of the most underrated musicians in history. One would think his inclusion in the biggest band of all time would earn him more respect than it did. In this episode we go into Ringo's past, how he got his name, ended up in The Beatles, and spent a majority of his life outside of that unforgettable band. And where some want to push him aside as a talentless hack, we make the argument about how that is completely untrue. Want to support your favorite beer drinkin’ babes? 09/12/2020 Duración: 01h31min

This week we have the pleasure to present our interview with Enoch "Skeeter" Thompson, known for his place in the DC hardcore punk scene in the band Scream (you may remember them as the group Dave Grohl was a part of before Nirvana). Back in the late 70's, Enoch joined up with his friends Franz, Kent, and Peter based around their common ground of music. Scream came soon after, the first band to release a full length album on Dischord records. We discuss the community of the DC punk scene in the 80's, hear the best "how I got my first guitar" story, ask his thoughts and feelings on the BLM movement, and so much more. • Episode 142: The B-52’s – There Ya Go!

    02/12/2020 Duración: 01h26min

This week we want to shine a light on one a band whose true talents get overlooked. The B-52's may seem like just your standard party band, but they are so much more than that. Their technically sound instrumentation mixed with quirky lyrics run much deeper than a simple song about piling into a massive car for a road trip to a cabin. This band worked hard and put in the time and made the connections, earning them a rightful place in music history throughout the decades. And along the way they teach us to celebrate our own uniqueness and try to have a little fun here and there. Want to support your favorite beer drinkin’ babes? (Spoiler: no) We tell the tale of the TWO stories that Pearl Jam's infamous single 'Jeremy' is based on and it's cultural impact. From there we go into a few well known instances where rock music was blamed for influencing the youth to cause chaos and harm to the world around them. From Columbine to the current cancel culture, many musicians have felt the ire and grief of parents and outspoken members of the public looking to point the finger at someone for their tragic experiences. We discuss the situations and how the artists react to such heavy accusations and how this affects musical expression. Want to support your favorite beer drinkin’ babes? • Episode 139: Nine Inch Nails Part 1 – Angry Janitor

    11/11/2020 Duración: 01h25min

We start to tell the tale of the band that brought industrial music to the mainstream, or more specifically, the man. Nine Inch Nails is Trent Reznor, a kid from the midwest who knew there was more out there for him than corn fields and quiet communities. But his journey was a real personal struggle, and his music makes that plain to see. Trent worked hard on his craft to the point where it became all consuming. He saw the apathy and despair in the world and found it brought him down as well, and music would become his primary outlet for these feelings. Despite falling into some unsavory habits, he managed to become a chart-topping rock star and took advantages of some opportunities of a lifetime. Want to support your favorite beer drinkin’ babes?
